The Quang Ngai Province
Some may know while others may not. The Quang Ngai Province is a place on the South coast of Vietnam, this place was targeted because the U.S government thought this was a Viet Cong stronghold. The U.S government's assumptions caused thousands of civilians to be homeless along with many deaths. It left old men bayoneted, women raped, and children to lose their lives also. When the American soldiers started seeing their men die more than usually due to land mines, they got intimidated and threw away the rule book. They got orders to invade a village called My Lai, they were told to to kill anything that moved, cut down anything that grew and burn any buildings standing. In Tim O'Brian's article he writes, "They met no resistance. No enemy. No incoming fire. Charlie Company killed whatever could be killed. They killed chickens. They killed cattle. They killed people too... lots of people. Women, infants, teen-agers, and old men." The information received telling them this was a Viet Cong stronghold, but the information was false. The actual Viet Cong stronghold was really 100 more mores away. After learning about this it made me so disgusted to know that American soldiers would take orders like that. To shoot infants and innocent people like that is inhumane, even if you have orders to do so. How could you live with this? Only one of the men involved in this was convicted, and he only got 4 months in jail then President Nixon ordered for him to be released. Proud to be an American?

Humanity
After reading about what happen in Boston yesterday, I lost all faith I had left for humanity. How could anyone get joy out of blowing people from limb to limb? There was an eight year old girl that died that day, she was running the marathon for those who died in the school shooting in Connecticut. I know it's not the first time an act of terror like this has occurred, but it makes me wonder if it was one of our own people in the US or someone from overseas. Maybe this is North Korea's first act...?

Blue Laws
It's 2013 and I guess people still haven't realized that there's people in the world that aren't religious. I don't think it's right that you can't buy hard liquor on Sunday but you can buy beer and wine. What's the difference? Alcohol is alcohol. The whole point of these Blue Laws is to enforce the religious standards. I think just because someone wants to enjoy the Sabbath and not drink doesn't mean everyone should have to do the same. If the US is a "free" country, if someone wants to drink on Sunday I think they should have the right to.

Etsy
Me and my mother have started our own vintage shop on Etsy. Right now there's just some vintage clothing for children but there's more coming soon! Check it our here!
North Korea
Unless you're living under a rock, you should be aware of the bomb threats from North Korea. Why would they want to bomb us? The only thing that makes since to me is they're still mad about us protecting South Korea during the Korean War. North Korea raises they're children to hate the US, which is successful since there's no internet to tell the kids otherwise. I read an article the other day that was about the prison camps in North Korea. Very similar to the ones in Germany during WW2, lead by Hitler. Torture, rape, and hard labor occur in these camps. In my opinion, I think this should be a good enough reason for the U.S to blow the country off the map before North Korea leads us into another World War. Why would you do that to your own people? The North Korean army even marches just like the Nazis' did. We should be the ones making bomb threats.

Spring
I think it's safe to say that spring has finally sprung. Crop tops, high-waisted shorts, and everything floral... my favorite. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the flowers bloom after a long, cold winter. The most exciting part is being able to wear something other than sweaters all the time. Hello Spring!

Cancer
The year is 2013. In the last 50 years we've sent a man to the moon, made clones, created the Internet, discovery of the human DNA pattern, color TV, and stem cell research just to name a few and still yet there's no cure for cancer. Well at least not a cure released to the public. Why is this? I believe there's already a cure for cancer, but since there's so much money to be made from the organization they refuse to make it public. I guess an object such as money is more important. What's so great about it? A piece of paper you can buy material things with... nothing more. We fight over oil when we more than likely have the technology to find a replacement for oil. If we really sent a man to the moon I believe by now, the year 2013, there should be a cure for cancer, no excuses. We've accomplished too much for there not to be a cure. What has the world come to?

Exploration
Are you aware that there's only been a small percentage of the ocean discovered? Why is that? Is the government not as curious as I am, along with many others. Not only the ocean but everything really... As far as i'm aware there's no effort to explore what's out in the world. There could be so many things out there that we've never heard of. Instead of wasting money on wars, they should do something useful for once.

Past becomes Present
The past seems to repeat itself. It's 2013 and in the past ten years we've encountered a stock market crash, terrorist attacks, and repeating trends. In the 1920s through the 30s there was a stock market crash that led to a depression. And today, much like in the 1970s the music culture has boomed. Coachella is like the Woodstock of the 21st century! I think people even dress similar now like in the past. If the trend keeps going, what will be next? Another World War?

My Town
I'm a girl with big dreams who lives in a small town. How will this ever work? In this town, you can't find a job, there's never nothing to do, and everyone knows everyone. What's the fun in that? I like a little mystery in my life and it's impossible when everything is predictable where you live. It's really pathetic too. For example, my mayor got caught dealing marijuana within five hundred feet of a school. Oh, and don't let me forget the murder cases our police let go unsolved. I'm sorry, but I simply cannot stay.

Lessons
Nothing can teach me a lesson or further my thinking like a book can. After finishing a book there's always something new I learn, or a new way of thinking about life is introduced. I just finished the book 'Looking for Alaska' written by John Green. It's about a boy who moves to a boarding school seeking the "Great Perhaps". While at the boarding school he makes many new friends, including his first love, Alaska Young. The book is written in a before/after transitioning by days instead of chapters. I wouldn't want to spoil the story, but the last couple pages is one of the most powerful things i've ever read.

Replica
You don't really notice until you actually look, but it seems to me everyone around me is a replica. All around my school there's someone out there trying to be like someone else. The saddest thing is when you start noticing it in your own friends. Why would someone want to be a copy? Have some originality people...

Change
Change... it's in our lives everyday, we just don't notice it. Everyday is a new leaf, constantly transitioning from past to present. Each day we slowly wake up another day older, another day closer to our fate. Yet, we only notice dramatic change in our lives. Winning the lottery for example or losing a loved one. Our problem is we're trying to live in the future instead of the present. Always looking forward to something, counting down the day til a certain something arrives instead of focusing on what's going on now and what's right in front of us. You don't know what you have til it's gone...

Wasted
We go to school twelve years only to go on to college for another four to eight more. Then after that, we'll work eight hours a day five days a week. We go to school our whole life, just to work our whole life awy. Where's the freedom in this? I understand this is a part of responsibility but everyone needs a break at some point. I wonder who made this up? Going to school eight hours a day really just seems like some kind of daycare. At my school, we hardly ever do anything productive. I basically just walk about forced to be around people I don't like. Another thing about my school... there's this room they call the bd room where basically kids sit and get their work done for them. If a kid has trouble paying attention in class, or can't handle the work as easy as it is, they just stick them there. Pretty much giving up on that student. Isn't that what you get paid for, Mr. Teacher? Anyone from afar can tell that all my school wants is money. For example, a couple years back we had a snow storm out of no where and the school wouldn't let us leave until we are lunch. Why? Because they don't get paid until the kids eat lunch. They'll risk our lives for the sake of money. Is it worth it, really?

A Whisper... or a Bang?
Your days are numbered, so make them count. When your life comes to an end, how do you want to be remembered? I personally don't want my family coming to a funeral to just mourn. Death is a part of life and as harsh as it sounds, we might as well get used to it. I'd rather go out with a bang. Maybe have my ashes sprinkled across the Great Barrier Reef, or send them to outer space, if that's even a possibility. When my time comes I want my family and friends to have something to remember me by, something to bring them happiness. After all, matter cannot be created or destroyed, it only changes forms.

Fitness
For those of you that don't know, obesity is a problem not only in the U.S especially, but all over the world. There is no excuse to be overweight unless you have some kind of medical problem. Simple as that, it's not something that should be felt sorry for, or anything of that matter. It's not as hard as it looks people. A fit body is a combination of cardio, diet, strength training, and determination. People think it's so hard when in really they're just lazy. In my opinion, those who complain about being overweight have no right unless they're putting effort in trying to change. Everyone wants to have their cake and eat it too, literally in this case.
She Blinded Me With Science!
Science... it's a subject in which you can't possibly learn enough. It's everything we are, it revolves around us. With all this money we waste towards irrelevant war, I don't understand why we don't do something useful with it. Let's explore. There's rumors that in the year 2018 NASA will make a trip to Mars! Finally, right? This will be the first time in history we've visited the red plant. Dennis Tito, the first space tourist, who's also a millionaire, is hosting this non profit organization. When this day comes it will begin a new era of space exploration. What will the future hold?
Cliques
I'll never understand them... People pick different people to become friends with that are exactly like each on another? What's the fun in befriending someone exactly like yourself? You're doing it wrong people. I see it all the time in school, public, it's everywhere. Become friends with people you truly like, simple as that. I've come to like people more that are the opposite of me, and becoming annoyed by my own friends. How does this happen?
"That's always seemed so ridiculous to me, that people want to be around someone because they're pretty. It's like picking your breakfast cereals based on color instead of taste."

Places in Time
Sometimes I wonder what it would be like to live in a different place in time. I wonder what the world was like in different time periods. Life in the psychedelic 60s, as a hippy in the 70s, the new-age 80s, or the alternative grunge 90s. It doesn't hurt to wonder. Music was better then, clothes, trends. Everything seems like it was better. Only thing I can hope for is a Time Machine.

Technology
Generation Y which are the kids born somewhere in the nineties era, have lived a life with nothing but technology. Thats all they know really, the first generation to have lived with some kind of technology their whole life. Anything ranging from a tv, computer, or brick cellphone at the time. I can remember playing on a computer before I was five and having a phone before I was even a preteen for safety reasons. Technology is a great thing that I probably couldn't live without today, but sometimes I wonder what it would be like to live without it. To have never known it's existence... I think kids would appreciate life more if they lived without technology. Teens today are always on their phones or computer tweaking on some social networking site, failing to enjoy the life around them. It's depressing really, what do you achieve by playing on your phone all day? Nothing. Not exercise, quality time with your family, just wasting time. Is there hope for the world...?

Extraterrestrial
Imagining life beyond the unimaginable... What's your thoughts on the Extraterrestrial? Could it be true aliens exist? Hiding somewhere deep between all the galaxies with their own secret lives? Maybe they're even lurking in our home galaxy, the MilkyWay... or even in your own back yard. It could very well be possible. If the human race is made up of some of the most common elements known to man, imagine how more complex another life form could get. For good or bad... look at it with an open mind.

Time
Life without a since of time... hard to think about isn't it? No past, present, or future. No appointments to worry about. We would no longer think, "I'll do it tomorrow, or the day after". The only thing we would focus on is the now. I've learned that people usually waste their present by focusing on the future or past. They don't make the best of their time while they can in the present because they're too busy worrying about the future instead of living life day by day. Why do we do this?
Imagine
Do you ever imagine what it would be like to live somewhere else, live a total different life. The curiosity doesn't necessarily mean you're disappointed with your own life, but it doesn't hurt to just wonder "there's gotta be something else, something better". Maybe you're tired of the east coast snow, the southern accent, the boring town you live in. Just imagine it... change is good.

The Time of the Season
Life comes with spring and summer, as death comes with fall and winter. As the seasons change, people seem to change themselves. There's so much life brought on by spring and summer, flowers blooming, happiness, swimming, bonfires. Then there's the death of fall and winter... plants dying, leaving falling, not to mention the cold weather, and horrible road conditions due to snow. I see so much depression as the seasons change over to fall and winter, it literally changes a person. The worst part is looking outside and knowing you can't enjoy the day due to the cold weather. The only thing there is to do in winter if you live on the East coast is to remanence of the previous summer and count down the days til summer comes. Those who live on the West coast, consider yourself lucky.

Envy
Envy... a combination of love and hate. It's human nature to envy someone at some point in your life. If you're an all around envious person the bottom line is you'll never be happy. How could you be? Especially when you're comparing yourself to others and giving yourself no credit. It seems pointless to me... just be happy.

The Game of Life
On a daily basis I hear someone somewhere complain about something in their life they could easily change. It could be their looks, weight, how they hate it when their girlfriend/boyfriend nags at them, the list is endless. They'll go on about how much they hate something without making any effort to change it. Most people don't realize how easy it would be to change their life entirely. If you don't like your weight... get fit. Can't stand your girlfriend/boyfriend's nagging... end it. Simple as that. You make decisions and there's always a reaction. Life is a game of cause and effect... you shape it as you go.
Teenage Girls
Throughout my life I've known a wide variety of teenage girls. All having one thing in common, they're all boy hungry. They chase after meaningless boys as if they were a middle aged woman searching for the husband they've always wanted. Maybe it's just the nature of a female? Who knows. I'll never understand why they focus on boys that will only waste they're time and eventually leaving them heartbroken instead of focusing on school and what really matters. You can't go through your life depending on people, what will you do when there's no one around to depend on? You'll be helpless, lost, and alone. Women should really practice being independent instead of relying on a man for everything, I feel that a woman's teenage years ruin this for her. Maybe I sound old fashioned? But the truth is the truth... it's an eye for an eye kind of world.

Tattoos
When will society realize that people have tattoos? Some people act like it's the worst thing to have a tattoo. For example, denying someone a job because they have a visible tattoo or piercing. Do people not realize this is the year 2013, and everyone has some kind of body modification? Someone shouldn't have to feel that they are denied the pleasure of body modification because of a job. To me, it's the same as denying someone a job due to disabilities, which is illegal. What difference does it make if a customer sees a tattoo on an employee, does it honestly change the way they think about them?
Carpe Diem
Something about the nighttime just gets me. I don't know whether it's the fact that it's more peaceful or the mystery it holds. I could get lost just staring into the sky. It's something we never get to appreciate since most people are lost in their dreams. Just stare into the sky... all the stars, the moon and think about who's looking at the same mysterious horizon at the same exact moment you. Imagine all that's up there, how do we know if we're so caught up in the day? The only way is to Carpe that Diem.

Electronic Dance Music
EDM for those of you who've been living under a rock for the past couple years has became a world wide sensation. Djs such as Calvin Harris, Skrillex, and Pretty Lights just to name a few are getting their much deserved fame. Festivals found across the world has made it onto everyone's bucket list. Whether it's EDC, Coachella, or Ultra there's always something going on in a city near you. Something about this music just brings out the life in society. Maybe it's the kick you get in your heart or the adrenaline. Whatever it may be all I know is, this is the music of the future my friend.
